Priorities

The issues below are those that I have heard about from neighbors and leaders over the years. This list is by no means exhaustive. I want to hear from you about what is important to you and your families!

Bringing Us Together

The strongest communities aren't built because everyone agrees. They're built because people are willing to listen and work toward common goals. I believe in representing our community with respect, civility, and transparency, creating space for every voice to be heard and helping neighbors find common ground, even when issues are complex.

Just as important, I want to help foster the kind of neighborhood where people truly know one another. There's something special about greeting neighbors by name, watching our children grow up together, supporting local businesses, connecting with neighbors both young and young-at-heart, and gathering for community events. Those everyday connections build trust, strengthen our sense of belonging, and remind us that we're not just living in the same place—we're building a community together.

Building Safer Streets and Neighborhoods

Everyone deserves to feel safe in our community—whether they're walking to school, biking to the library, riding public transportation, or simply taking an evening stroll with their dog. As a parent of young children, I know how important it is to feel confident when your child is crossing the street or walking to school. As a daughter with aging parents, I often think about the challenges that our older residents might face as the neighborhood evolves. I want to advocate for safer crosswalks, thoughtful traffic calming, and infrastructure that protects pedestrians of all ages. I'll work with neighbors and the city to identify and address the most critical issues and find practical solutions that make our streets safer for everyone, regardless of how they choose to get around.

Safety is about more than traffic—everyone should feel comfortable walking through our neighborhood without fear. Our parks, sidewalks, and public spaces should be welcoming for all. I'll support efforts that strengthen public safety, encourage community engagement, and help ensure Chevy Chase remains a neighborhood where people feel secure, connected, and proud to call home.

Delivering Housing for every stage of life

A strong neighborhood is one where people at every stage of life can put down roots—from young families and teachers to seniors who want to remain in the community they love. I support thoughtful approaches to increasing housing availability and affordability that respect our neighborhood's character while creating opportunities for people to thrive in Chevy Chase.

An intergenerational neighborhood benefits everyone, and I believe we can create thoughtful housing choices that help people stay connected to the place they call home. By focusing on shared goals and planning responsibly, our community will remain welcoming, vibrant, and accessible for generations to come.

Reimagining the Chevy Chase Community Center and Library (Civic Core)

The Chevy Chase Community Center and Library are more than buildings—they're places where neighbors connect, families gather, and community grows. Reimagining this space is a once-in-a-generation opportunity that I am proud to be a part of! I will continue to work with decisionmakers and stakeholders to bring forward thoughtful approaches that preserve green space, create welcoming public spaces, and deliver a vibrant experience that inspires lifelong learning and connection. It’s critical that we work together to maximize the benefits of this redevelopment, for Chevy Chase and DC.

Protecting Our Environment

The trees, parks, and green spaces that define our neighborhood deserve careful stewardship. I have spent years working side-by-side with experts who examine the costs and benefits of environmental decisions, and I take that thinking into my own planning. As an environmentalist, I support efforts to expand our tree canopy, improve sustainability, and protect the natural spaces that make our community healthier, more resilient, and more enjoyable for future generations.

Protecting our environment is also something we do together. While the city plays an important role, creating a beautiful neighborhood depends on all of us—whether it's picking up litter, caring for our parks, planting trees, or volunteering for community clean-up efforts. Small acts of stewardship add up, and when neighbors work together, we create a cleaner, greener, and more connected community for everyone.
